ASTHMA MANAGEMENT PRECEDING AN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT VISIT

[摘要] For a significant proportion of adults requiring emergency health services for asthma, pre-existing management was poor by current standards: chronic asthma was poorly controlled, patients were often under-medicated, patients were often exposed to environmental triggers, and strategies to manage exacerbations were ineffective. The authors recommend that patients be screened by emergency physicians and those with identifiable inadequacies in asthma care be referred to physicians with expertise in asthma management.
