CLOSING OF MEDICAL SCHOOLS

[摘要] A private study commission is urging "the wholesale closing" of US medical schools during the next decade to avert a glut of doctors.The Pew Health Professions Commission on Thursday urged a similar retrenchment ent in pharmacy schools and elimination of at least 10% of nurse training programs.It called for constricting the pipeline of foreign doctors who come to this country to train and usually wind up practicing here.. . . The provocative study, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts, a private philanthropy, did not sit well with leaders of academic medicine.
