PACE7 Report
[摘要] PACE7 is the Academy's self-assessment program designed to assist pediatricians in determining their present level of knowledge, in planning continuing education activities, and in acquiring new knowledge. The program makes use of six patient-management problems and a 125-item multiple-choice examination to accomplish this goal. All participants have the option of completing the assessments open book (using references), closed book (without references), or both open and closed book. This report summarizes only those results obtained from multiplechoice examinations returned to the Academy marked "closed book."After completing the 125-item examination, participants are able to score their own examination by using a special key in the Answer, Discussion and Reference Booklet provided in the PACE7 packet. Participants desiring category I credit are required to return their answer sheets to the Academy indicating conditions under which the examination was taken (open book, closed book, both). No deadline was given for return of the answer sheets.By April 1, 1978, almost 1,000 of more than 4,000 subscribers had returned completed answer sheets to the American Academy of Pediatrics for credit acknowledgement. Of these, 518 were marked as being completed closed book, 34 as being completed open book, and the remainder, both. The 518 closed-book answer sheets were processed using a test scoring and analysis computer program developed at Northwestern University Medical School. The descriptive statistics generated provide PACE7 participants with information that they may use in comparing their own performance with that of the sample.Table I gives summary statistics for the total examination.
