VOLUMETRIC AND MICROSCOPIC PATTERN OF BONE MARROW IN NORMAL INFANTS AND CHILDREN

[摘要] With the use of the described bone marrow aspiration and concentration (volumetric) technic, the percentage distribution of the major categories of cells appears to follow the general pattern reported from studies of bone marrow in infants and children by the direct smear technics.The percentage distribution of nucleated cells from sternal and iliac aspirations in the age range studied showed no apparent differences between the two sites nor influence of age on the data.In normal individuals as young as 1½ years of age and with advancing age thereafter, an increasing number of tibial aspirations show a very low percentage of normoblasts (0-5) and a majority of lymphocytes and segmented neutrophils.
