Children and television
[摘要] As a member of the generation which was raised on "The Lone Ranger," "Allen's Alley," and "The Shadow," as well as Wheaties, Ovaltine, and cereals "shot from guns," I confess to a bias against television which has interfered with my coming to honest grips with it. This bias has led me to discount the importance of television in my work with children and their families. The study of the relationship between viewing violence on television and apathy reported by Drabman and Thomas in the current issue of Pediatrics 1 provides the stimulus to review the health-related aspects of this very important medium of communication.
