Is confidentiality in health care records a pediatric concern?
[摘要] Revelations of the existence of vast federal data banks and other Orwellian spectres1 may, at first glance, seem to have little relevance for the day to day practice of pediatrics. But children and adolescents have just as vital an interest in the protection of their privacy as do adults. And, in the matter of confidentiality and the health care record, these issues can be much more complex.2 For here the usual interrelationships between physicians and their patients are expanded to include the parents as well. In addition, more "third parties" are interested in the health of children than for their elders, and more health care resources are often involved.
