ELECTROLYTE AND NITROGEN BALANCE STUDIES IN INFANTS FOLLOWING CESSATION OF VOMITING
[摘要] Abnormally low levels of serum potassium were observed prior to or during therapy of infants with a history of prolonged or recurrent vomiting.Balance studies indicate that either dilution of body fluids with low potassium solution, or transfers of potassium into cells, or both processes were responsible for the hypokalemia. The probable existence of deficits of body potassium incurred prior to the balance studies and their therapeutic implications have been discussed.
