HEMOLYTIC AND PANCYTOPENIC SYNDROME ASSOCIATED WITH LETTERER-SIWE DISEASE

[摘要] Two cases of Letterer-Siwe disease are described in which a hemolytic mechanism was the probable cause of the associated anemia. A review of the pertinent literature indicates that this may be an integral part of the disease in some cases.The laboratory evidence and clinical response to adrenocorticotropin in the first case indicate an extrinsic and probably immunologic mechanism. It is speculated that an analagous process is also responsible for the total pancytopenia. Future acute reticuloendotheliosis cases should be studied in detail in order to further elucidate the etiology of the hematologic changes.
