JOHNSON & JOHNSON UNIT TO PAY $5.1 MILLION
[摘要] Johnson & Johnson's Ortho Pharmaceutical Corp. unit has been ordered to pay $5.1 million to a woman who alleged that a widely used contraceptive gel caused her daughter to be born with severe birth defects. The product, Ortho-Gynol Contraceptive Jelly, is the most popular brand of a non-prescription spermicidal jelly, used by millions of women. Johnson & Johnson said the company planned to appeal the judge's ruling. "The overwhelming weight of scientific evidence is against the liklihood that the product could cause such a defect."
