RENAL INVOLVEMENT IN BOECK'S SARCOIDOSIS
[摘要] The case of a 10-year-old Negro male with classic sarcoidosis, hypercalcemia and moderate renal involvement is presented. The causes of renal disease in sarcoidosis and the relationship between hypercalcemia and renal insufficiency are discussed. Hypercalcemia appeared to have a direct adverse effect on renal function. When the calcium concentration in serum was decreased, the nonprotein nitrogen value returned to normal, the specific gravity of the urine increased, and the abnormal urinary sediment became normal. The possible mechanisms responsible for hypercalcemia are discussed. The treatment of choice for hypercalcemia and renal insufficiency in sarcoidosis appears to be the use of cortisone or one of its analogs.
