PEDIATRICS AT A CROSSROAD

[摘要] THE THEME to be expressed here is that pediatrics in the medical school, the hospital and in practice today shows signs of great vigor as might be expected of a specialty entering an adolescent phase of differentiation. One hears all about a serious dialogue of change which inevitably precedes progress; this is indicative of vitality, not, as some would have it, dissatisfaction and unrest with a moribund anomaly in medicine. At the same time, close examination reveals a quality gap in many phases of our specialty. The new goals to which we aspire may become unattainable through educational and academic impotence unless we seek to repair existing deficiencies and follow roads of progress with a strong commitment to sustaining the highest quality.
