Making successful strides : developing a training manual for assistants, tutors, and volunteers in the strides to success and leading the way programs
[摘要] The purpose of this project was to develop a training manual for assistants, tutors, and voIunteersin the Strides To Success and Leading The Wqv programs at the Winona Middle School. Thiswas based on an established need by the Strides To Success staff and Action Council toimplement training for the partners and volunteers that work directly with the program and theprogram participants. Strides To Success is an early intementiodprevention youth developmentprogram designed to provide children who exhibit at-risk behavior the education and supportkey need to make healthy decisions, build personal assets, and develop competencies. Youthlearn non-violent conflict resolution skills, encouraging success in school with moreintervention, providing interaction with adult role models, nourishing a positive self image, anddeveloping an awareness and respect for others in the Strides To Success program. Leading theI Wq, is a program which involves high school students who participated in Strides To SuccessI during middle school. It employs selected high school students through Strides To Success totutor middle school students and assist in program facilitation. The manual development and1 evaluation process involved many intricate steps incorporating the staff and Action Council of Strides To Success.
