Glycerol Lubricant: Potential Source of Error in Commercially Prepared Blood Specimen Tubes

[摘要] Glycerol used to lubricate the rubber stoppers capping certain commercially prepared blood specimen tubes (Vacutainers*) is a source of error when glycerol determinations are performed on blood collected in these tubes. It is suggested that the lubricant utilized in commercial preparation of collection tubes be designated prominently on labels and that further use of glycerol as a lubricant be eliminated.
