Physical Exercise: the Virtual Movement Culture?
[摘要] Exercise is probably the most important of the elements of lifestyle that help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis (1, 2). Regular exercise and physical activity are important to older adults for the prevention of frailty (3). The benefits to be gained are very tangible for the quality of everyday life: increased mobility, endurance, and tolerance of effort. Conversely, lack of exercise has contributed to the current epidemics of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The metabolic effects of exercise are now becoming clearer. Substantial insight has been gained into the relevant signaling pathways and genetics.We owe a great debt to the artists for their exploration of physicality and movement. The European reference point for this is the culture of ancient Greece, where physical movement was highly valued.
