Determination of Ketone Bodies in Blood and Urine by Means of Vanillin in Alkaline Medium
[摘要] Vanillin in an alkaline reaction mixture is a very sensitive reagent for acetone and diacetic acid. A qualitative and a quantitative method have been developed for the acetone bodies in blood and in urine by means of a vanillin-alkali reagent. Acetone and diacetic acid are distilled off and caught in a sodium bisulfite solution, which is allowed to react with vanillin in alkaline medium to form a color complex, which is measured spectrophotometrically.Vanillin has many advantages over the salicylaldehyde method of Behre. These have been enumerated in the text.
