Snowfall over Ancient Covered Bridge and Mountain Village
[摘要] A covered bridge, also called a “lounge bridge” (![Graphic][1]) is a Chinese type of bridge that has a roof (![Graphic][2]). Some roof covers have been designed in the form of a covered passageway with a simple tiled roof, and some incorporate more elaborate structures that appear like a house with one or more chambers or are single or multiple pavilions. Therefore, they are also known as “tiled-roof” (![Graphic][3]), “house” (![Graphic][4]), or “pavilion” (![Graphic][5]) bridges. Because a covered bridge provides shelter against strong wind and heavy rain, it is known as “bridge for wind and rain” (![Graphic][6]) in some southern provinces of China where severe seasonal storms are common.
