[摘要] The Northern California Section of the AACC began with 11 members in 1962. Its geographic area includes all of California north of Fresno and San Luis Obispo, all of Nevada except Clark County, and Hawaii. Its current membership has grown to >500, with many members participating in both local and national committees and holding offices in numerous Divisions. The Section’s activities include the organization of various symposia, annual science and engineering fairs for students, and hosting of National AACC meetings. The Section’s membership continues its efforts to participate in AACC activities at both the local and national levels.Eleven active AACC members (Julio Bergerman, Nicholas Carroll, Joseph Gast, Joseph Goodman, Gordon Gould, Harold Harper, Nell Hollinger, Saul Kantor, Keith Selvey, Jerry White, and Edith Zammitt) met on March 20, 1962, at the San Francisco Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in response to an invitation by Joseph Goodman to organize the Northern California Section. In July 1962, the constitution and bylaws of the Northern California Section were adopted and submitted to the national office. The Section was formally approved in the fall of 1962. Joseph Goodman served as the first chairman of the Section from 1962 to 1964.
