Diagnostic Application of Metabolic Studies with Isotopes

[摘要] The mechanism of the maintenance of normoglycemia in chloroform intoxication in rats was studied with isotopes. Metabolic pathways were altered before the concentration of blood glucose changed significantly. Measurement of the incorporation of precursors rather than the determination of the concentration of the metabolic end products ( e.g. , glucose) may provide more diagnostic information and may more sensitively detect early diseases or disease stages.
