The relationship between perceived parenting styles and resilience during adolescence
[摘要] The aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between perceived parentingstyles and resilience in adolescence. The respondents were a sample of 360 Englishspeaking, multi-cultural subjects, with a mean age of 17,6 years. Hierarchical regressionanalyses were used to investigate these results. The criterion variables included sense ofcoherence (measured by Antonovsky's Orientation to Life Questionnaire) and problemfocused,emotion-focused and dysfunctional coping strategies (operationalised by meansof the COPE scale). The predictor variables included six scales, namely mother'spermissiveness, father's permissiveness, mother's authoritarianism, father'sauthoritarianism, mother's authoritativeness and father's authoritativeness (measured bymeans of the Parental Authority Questionnaire). Authoritative parenting provided themost significant contribution to the explanation of the variance in resilience for bothculture groups and both sexes.
