An Informatics Research Roadmap to Facilitate Precision Medicine

[摘要] There is increasing recognition by practitioners, researchers, patients and policymakers of the promise of precision medicine for improving health. The intent of precision medicine is to integrate individual genetic data with existing health information to predict disease risk, develop prevention strategies, accurately establish disease course and tailor management plans. President Obama launched the National Institutes of Health Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI)2 in January 2015. The PMI consists of a near-term study focused on oncology and a longer-term goal to increase broad understanding of health and disease. A key component of the longer-term goal is the PMI-Cohort Program, which will assemble health data for 1 million volunteers that includes environmental exposures, lifestyle habits, longitudinal medical history and genetic information.The Food and …
