[摘要] Pleural fluid and other biological fluids appear white because of light scattering by cells, crystals, colloidal particles, macromolecules, or lipoproteins. Larger particles are more effective at scattering light than smaller ones, and measurement of light scatter can even be used to calculate particle diameter.
