Addenda and Erratum
[摘要] In the article "A Scheme for the Rapid Identification in Urine of Commonly Used Sedatives, Hypnotics, and Tranquilizers, by G. Sobolewski and G. Nadean in the April issue ( 6: 153-161, 1960), a typographical error occurred in the last line, p. 160. The phrase ". . . part of the nongraded drug. . ." should read "... part of the nondegraded drug..."Revisions in the technics shown under Procedure (p. 155) necessitate the following addenda. On line 19, the sentence beginning: "The alkaline solution. . ." should continue, ". . . is first extracted with LOml. of ethyl ether to remove the water-soluble isobutanol that interferes with the test. The ether extract is discarded. The remaining aqueous phase is neutralized with 1 ml. of normal HC1 solution. . ."The benzene extract may contain salicylates in addition to glutethimide. Since they interfere with the test, the sentence (line 7) beginning: "The organic extract . . ." should read "The organic extract (benzene layer) is washed with 10 ml. of 0.1N NaOH solution and then assayed for glutethimide."The authors will gladly receive comments on various aspects of the procedure.
