[摘要] The Council on Wave Research of the Engineering Foundation was the sponsor of the first nine conferences on Coastal Engineering. This Council was abolished and was replaced in 1964 by the Coastal Engineering Research Council of the American Society of Civil Engineers. However, in spite of the change of name and affiliation there has been no discontinuity in either the activity of the Council or its management, which continues to function under the able guidance of the Secretary, Professor J. W. Johnson of the University of California, Berkeley.
