MONITORING INLET MORPHODYNAMICS VIA TIDAL RESPONSE, SEEN THROUGH A NOVEL 24.5HOUR MOVING WINDOW
[摘要] The promising- 24.5 hour moving window method is applied to analyse tidal record in order to capture morphological changes through storm events, which usually last only 2 to 5 days. Testing of this method on inlet data from NSW Australia indicate that, it captures morphology changes on the time scale of individual storms effectively via response changes for the dominant semi-diurnal component. The message from the subordinate diurnal component is less clear.The paper discusses the performance of the new method through more examples, addressing the intricate issues of windowing and the relative merits of windowing methods versus band pass filtering.
