STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS OF OFFSHORE CURRENTS

[摘要] This paper presents the results of stochastic analysis of offshore currents. The purpose of this study is to clarify the stochastic properties of offshore currents, and to develop a method to predict the magnitude of the extreme currents and their direction from measured data. Statistical analysis as well as spectral analysis are carried out on current velocities measured over a period of several months off Newfoundland, Canada. The effect of water depth on the statistical characteristics of current velocity is also clarified. The extreme current velocity expected to occur in 4- months and its direction are estimated by applying order statistics and the results are compared with the measured data.
