SCALE EFFECTS IN OXYGENATION IN THE BREAKER ZONE OF COASTAL STRUCTURES

[摘要] The significance of oxygen transfer across the air-water interface with its associated impact on water quality and environmental pollution control in coastal zones has become a matter of concern for coastal engineers. In the present paper experimental data on oxygen transfer obtained in the large scale facility of Delft Hydraulics have been presented. The obtained oxygen transfer coefficients have been compared to existing models for gas transfer under breaking and non breaking waves. Scale effects are found to be an important factor which needs to be considered when laboratory results are translated to field conditions.
