JUSTIFICATION FOR BEACH NOURISHMENT

[摘要] Sand balance of the littoral system determines whether erosion or recession will occur. Adding sand to the system is the only engineered way to restore the balance and prevent erosion or recession. Justification of beach nourishment as a shore protection measure depends on the benefits criteria used in the analysis, and societal goals will decide the criteria.
