FIELD OBSERVATION ON SUSPENDED-LOAD IN THE SURF ZONE

[摘要] Both the concentration of suspended-load and thecurrent velocity have been measured continuously inthe surf zone. In order to measure the concentrationof the suspended-load in the surf zone, a opticaldensitometer has been developed. The currentvelocity was measured by means of electromagneticcurrent meters. According to data analyses, themean concentration of the suspended-load is high inthe final breaking zone and in the breaker zone. Inthe final breaking zone, the concentrationfluctuates with the period of the incident waves.On the other hand, it fluctuates with the periodlonger than 40 seconds in the breaker zone and itbecomes high when the current is offshoreward. Thedirections of the net transport of the suspendedloadin the middle layer in and near the surf zoneare offshoreward.
