NEW CRITERIA FOR GRANULAR FILTERS AND GEOTEXTILE FILTERS UNDER REVETMENTS

[摘要] New criteria for the design of filters under revetments are introduced and verification tests are described. These criteria are based on a hydrodynamic limit instead of the usual geometric limit, assuming a similarity between the flow in open channels and flow in the pores at an interface between filter and base. First a theory was developed for a granular filter only, and later this theory was extended to include the influence of a geotextile. The verification experiments are outlined, and the applicability of the derived formulae is discussed.
