DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION FITTING FOR STORM WAVE DATA

[摘要] New objective criteria are established for rejecting unfitting distribution functions to a sample of extreme wave data. Another criterion is also introduced to select the best fitting function among the eligible ones. Application of these criteria to storm wave data around Japan indicates a possibility of identifying the parent distributions for the regional population of storm wave data.
