THE ANALYSIS AND ROLE OF BARS ON THE PROTECTION OF A BEACH SYSTEM GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

[摘要] Gold Coast beach profile changes have been analysed using a dynamical model describing wave-bed interactions. The model explains the formation and dynamics of prominent longshore bars which are characteristic features of the studied nearshore. Model predictions are compared with field observations and measurements in several locations. Obtained results justify protection measures (eg. nourishment of offshore bars) applied in the study area by the Gold Coast City Council.
