Insect immunity: cDNA clones coding for the precursor forms of cecropins A and D, antibacterial proteins from Hyalophora cecropia

Using synthetic probes cDNA clones were isolated correponding to the precursor forms of cecropins A and D. The sequences obtained were compared to earlier data for preprocecropin B. A processing scheme in three or four steps is discussed.
