Windows on Renal Biopsy Interpretation: Does mRNA Analysis Represent a New Gold Standard?
[摘要] Renal biopsies, introduced in the 1960s, have become a commonly used clinical diagnostic tool. While they have provided considerable descriptive information and have allowed the classification of histologic changes in both native and allograft kidneys, the prediction of progression or regression has proven to be elusive (1–4 ⇓ ⇓ ⇓). This fact has greatly reduced the value of renal biopsies as a guide for selecting and evaluating therapeutic approaches in clinical practice. In an attempt to rectify this problem, attempts have been made to correlate ever more detailed analyses of renal structure with renal function (5). The current study represents yet another significant advance in this search for the renal biopsy “holy grail†(6).
