The Disadvantage of Being Fat
[摘要] Given the epidemic of obesity in the United States, it is not surprising that an increasing fraction of patients who are considered for and receiving kidney transplants are also overweight. Friedman et al.1 found a 41.9% decrease in the fraction of patients with normal body mass index (BMI) among US patients who received kidney transplants from the 1988 to 2001. During the same period, there was a 32% increase in the number of patients with BMI of 25 to 29.9 and a 116% increase in patients with BMI >30.
