When a St. Louis, Missouri, company needed expanded facilities for its metal recycling operations, the contractor suggested a new hybrid precast concrete building system for fast-track construction of a facility that would provide durable open space for heavy equipment. Prestressed Casting Company designed a structure with loadbearing precast concrete wall panels and long-span double-tee frames in conjunction with a bar joist and metal deck roof system. The minimal cost premium for the hybrid precast solution (over a standard metal-framed structure) provided important additional value in early occupancy and a more functional and durable facility.
