This paper presents a world overview of the flow line method of pretensioning and compares it with the long line pretensioning method. After explaining the principles and details of the method, the authors show how the technique has been applied to beams, slabs, railroad ties, poles and other members. Examples of flow line technologies are drawn from Western and Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and some of the developing countries. A comparison is made between the two methods. The information presented in this paper is a result of an extensive world survey and personal contacts.
