Precast concrete segmental bridge construction is continuously evolving to keep pace in a competitive environment. As segmental bridge construction increases in national popularity, a number of precasters will consider upgrading plant facilities to handle this relatively new product. Historically, general contractors have produced the majority of precast concrete segments for existing precast concrete segmental bridges, and it has been the exception when a con tractor has purchased segments from a precast concrete manufacturing facility.
