The dramatic entrance canopy for an industrial park in Honduras was made of precast concrete folded plates suspended from a partially cast-in-place A-frame structure. The 25 folded plate sections, cast as flat members containing hinges, were folded together for lifting, then unfolded to the proper angle while they were supported on temporary shoring at their final location. Cast-in-place beams were added to stiffen and stabilize the canopy while supporting the folded plates. Suspension members from the top of each A frame were tied into the longitudinal beams to complete the roof support.
