Experimental data on the structural properties of high strength concrete [f 'c greater than 6000 psi (42 MPa)] are reported. Based on these findings, as well as data on normal strength concrete, empirical expressions are proposed. The implications of such parameters as compressive strength, compressive stress-strain curve, modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, shear strength, Poisson's ratio, ductility, lateral reinforcement, as well as economic considerations for the structural design of prestressed concrete are studied and design recommendations are made.
