This article points out and emphasizes the fact that no United States code or national standard imposes an upper limit on the strength of normal weight concrete that can be used in construction, including structures built in regions of high seismicity. The 2002 Edition of the ACI Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (AC! 318-02) has chosen to explicitly state this fact.
