Studies on Root Formation in Certain Cultivated Plants : III. Relation between primary root formation and canal development in crown roots of rice plants

[摘要] As the results of an anatomical study of root formation in rice plants, the fact was found that initiation of primary roots of the crown root occurrs at the opposite side of the place where canals develop simultaneously. Therefore, the more primary roots appear, the more canals are seen. The formation of primary roots in the soil of paddy field is generally accelerated when it is in the way of oxidation, and the development of canals, on the contrary, is poorer when the soil is reductive.
