Studies on the Development and Distribution of Roots and Its Soil Conservation Faculty in Tea Plants : II. Relation between characters of tea roots and its soil retention force
[摘要] To investigate the soil conservation faculty of tea roots in the sloping field, the soil retention force of tea roots was measured under several conditions. 1. The soil retention force of tea roots varied with the age of clonal plant in the field, the distribution and development of roots, and the property of soil, etc. Especially, the correlation coefficients between the soil retention force and the age of clonal plant, depth of roots, and the thickness of roots were significantly positive. But as regards the relation between the soil retention force and the age of clonal plant, the rate of increase of soil retention force in the plant above 40-50 years old was lower than that in the plant below 30-40 years old. 2. The correlation coefficients between the soil retention force and the weight of roots were also significantly positive. The local seedling plant was superior in the soil retention force than the clonal plant, when the wetight of roots of them were almost the same. The soil retention force seemed to be influenced by the difference not only in the weight of roots but also in the distribution and physical property of roots between seedling and clonal plant.
