Retirement and the evolution of work

[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study seeks to re-conceptualise retirement in industrialised and post-industrialisedcountries, based on an empirical and theoretical exploration of the consequences ofchange in the 'working life' on retirement. The study found, within limitations, that workis transforming from a stable long-term form into a more flexible pattern, and retirementis tending to merge with work within a similar flexible framework. The hypothesis thatpeople are engineering their own form of retirement was tested and found valid within thecontext of the study.
