CONCEPT OF FUZZY-POSSIBILISTIC ANALYSIS: EARTHQUAKE OCCURRENCES
[摘要] The importance of analyzing various types of data to make useful inference and for real-life application especially for cogent need of decision making or forecasting future occurrences has craved further development for effective ways of handling such data. Fundamentally, probability distributions has been seen quite a while as one of the effective methods of analyzing statistical data or representing cognitive information. This paper simply provides an overview of the fact that possibility theory using the Zadeh’s concept of fuzzy logic can be very useful in analyzing statistical information in as much as the theory of probability is used for such purpose.Obviously, possibility theory is better seen as a representation of an ‘ intersection’of non-monotonic reasoning, probability and fuzzy logic. And this provides the need through this study to emphasize on the interpretation and representation of uncertainty especially when a level of imprecision in a statement is under consideration.Hence, the main element used within the concept of this theory which is based principally on the axiomatic properties as expressed from the introduction of fuzzy measure is rightly in lieu with real and classical statistical approach and then allowing more of possibilistic measures on a finite universal set. Statistical distribution of occurrences of magnitudes earthquake in Cyprus between the year 2012 and 2014 is interpreted using the model of possibilistic measure.
