Gasheer- en lokaliteitsgebondenheid van die Suid-Afrikaanse verteenwoordigers van die Loranthaceae en Viscaceae
[摘要] ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The various distribution patterns exhibited by the SouthAfrican mistletoe species were investigated. On the basisof distribution area (number of grids) and the distributiondensity (averag~ number ofwere distinguished, viz.records per grid), four groups1. Species with a wide distribution and a high collectiondensity2. Species with a wide distribution and a low collectiondensity3. Species with a restricted distribution and a highcollection density4. Species with a restricted distribution and a lowcollection densityThe degree of association between selected mistletoes andtheir hosts were investigated and tested using differentchi2 probability indices . .No host taxon was found to be exclusively parasitised by asingle mistletoe taxon although a few mistletoe species werefound to have strong positive associations with a singl~host taxon. The association between Viscum combreticola andmembers of the genus Combretum illustrates the latter case. The taxonomic affinities between parasitised taxa (at orderlevel) were examined based on the classification of Stebbins(1974) and Dahlgren (1980). The factors influencing thecompatability between a mistletoe and its host wereinvestigated and brought into context with the taxa that arenot parasitised.
