BODY TEMPERATURE, HEART AND BREATH RATE OF THE THOROUGHBRED FOAL FROM BIRTH TO SIX MONTHS OF AGE

[摘要] Fifty-two thoroughbred foals, located at a stud-farm in São José dos Pinhais - PR, Brazil, were used to verify some physiological parameters. This paper represents the evaluation of body temperature, hearth and breath rate from birth through six months of age, at pre-stablished dates and schedules. Hearth and breath rate declined after the seventh day of age and body temperature ranged within 38.2 - 38.8°C, It is concluded that knowing such physiological aspects at different ages, the practioner would have more solid base for diagnose.
