Mycobacteriosis in a Domestic Ferret (Mustela putoriusfuro)

[摘要] References(19)Cited-By(1)A 4-year-old spayed female ferret presented with a 2-month history of anorexia,vomiting and occasional diarrhea. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed thickening of thegastric wall and enlarged abdominal lymph nodes. Biopsy samples from the thickened gastricwall, enlarged abdominal lymph nodes and liver were taken during an exploratorylaparotomy. Based on the histopathological examination, mycobacterium infection wasdiagnosed. The bacterial species could not be identified by additional diagnostic tests offeces, including fecal smear, culture and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The ferret wastreated with prednisolone and multiple antimicrobials, including rifampicin, azithromycinand enrofloxacin, but did not improve with treatment and died 220 days after the firstpresentation.
