Morphology of the Interdigital Glands of a Formosan Serow (Capricornis crispus swinhoei)

[摘要] References(8)Cited-By(3)The morphology of the interdigital glands of a male 9-year-old Formosan serow was examined. The glands were sock-shaped depression of the skin and were present in four feet. The glands were composed of a neck and a body. The epidermis of inner wall of the glands was keratinized stratified squamous epithelium. Apocrine glands were developed, while the sebaceous glands and hair follicles were very poorly developed. Contents, probably dirt, were small in the interdigital glands. These findings resemble to the interdigital glands of the Japanese serow and suggest that the interdigital glands have very low activity of secretion.
