STATISTICAL MEASURES CONCERNING THE GRADING OF SAND

[摘要] It was keenly felt, when the author was engaged in the work of dealing with the results of the soil tests of the marine soil samples of the Sakai Channel in 1959, that a quantitative representation of their grading, if possible, might facilitate the comparison and the description of various samples.In the present paper, the author introduces typical statistical measures, such as the moment measures, the quartile measures, the graphic moment measures, and describes their signification, characteristics, and calculation, as well as their mutual relationship.
