El seguimiento de estos residuos involucró una primera etapa de encuesta a los sectores industrial, comercial, de servicios yhospitalario delárea metropolitana de Bucaramanga, con el fin de establecer la incidencia de los sectores generadores de RTP y la información cualitativa y cuantitativa de los mismos, y finalmente una segunda etapa de muestreo directo de desechos y lixiviados en el relleno sanitario. Como resultado se pudo concluir que las pilas domésticas y las baterías acidas de plomo de las motocicletas pueden ser las causantes de los contenidos de metales tóxicos y peligrosos en la corriente de lixiviado, y se recomienda el proceso de inertización como alternativa para minimizar el problema.    ABSTRACT  The evaluation of origin, type and quantity of toxic and dangerous wastes that enter in the sanitary landfill El Carrasco, Bucaramanga, Colombia, is the objective of the present work.
